Sonja Ovaskainen

Are we more than an animal covered by the skin - an animal with relatively developed self-awareness? Having subjective self-consciousness is something that feels apparent, but describing it verbally feels difficult. According to modern science, this awareness is something we can locate in brains, however, that idea when viewing through our everyday life experience feels odd.

Artist Sonja Ovaskainen wants to create a dialogue between one’s ideal self and one`s physical outlines. By presenting self-images as an unreal virtual representation of a human she wants to create a conversation between ideal and real.
