Faux Paris is a photobook project exploring the image of Paris today, after british photographer Chris Lee spent a year living in the city between 2019 and 2020. After studying how the poetic vision of the city has been orchestrated in photobooks of the past with titles like Paris des Reves (1950) and Paris de Nuit (1931), the series combines candid street photography with fragments of tension around events such as the RATP strikes, Gilet Jaunes protests and the coronavirus outbreak. Faux Paris is fundamentally a contemplation on the impact of urbanism, juxtaposing people and nature from an personal urge to create an awareness between ourselves and the environment we inhabit.
